This is the first time I've EVER been compelled to write a review, which speaks volumes in and of itself! How, could someone with half an iota of common sense tell me, do you take a genre, with almost a decade of material to use for case study, and STILL mess it up. Every fiber of this movies storyline is completely pulled out of someones ying yang, with barely any notable correlation to the actual Dragonball series. I know there are to be expected shortcomings to factor in for the transition from anime to live action, but that's like saying the Grand Canyon is just a small ditch when talking aout this movie. I bet against the house that this movie would be a slap in the face, and would actually turn out good; and I lost the shirt off my back. The casting of Goku was horrible, Roshi was horrible, Piccolo...no comment! Hell, even Goku's uniform was the wrong color! I pray to the high heavens of Hollywood's Marvel remake machine that they get involved and help tell this story correctly!

I will face the wrath of Badhorsie and write a review because I think this movie is going to be awful. Part of charm of the original comic (and subsequent anime) were the imaginative art, character designs, and outlandish situations. None of the photos or pre-release stuff seems to capture any of this. This could easily be called something else and no one would know it has anything to do with Dragon Ball. Another example of Hollywood unable to come up with an original story or franchise so they go out and ruin one. I believe this movie will beat out Street Fighter: The Legend on Chun-Li as the worst anime/game-to-movie ever made.

Hundreds and hundreds of people have been waiting for years and years and years for a movie that depicted in accurate detail the show that has acquired the reputation of the "the greatest action show ever-made." The movie has finally come. Before criticizing the movie that has ALREADY been made, ask yourself this: how else did you expect it? Did you actually expect that accurate detail? Did you ever THINK any live-action whatever will do this great show justice? Well, people, guess what? No live-action whatever will EVER do this great show justice. It never does. NEVER. So now, we are still left with the movie that has been booed by those that know nothing of it and care nothing about the show that inspired it. BE THANKFUL. DB has been forgotten and replaced by newer shows. The fact that someone is making an attempt at re-introducing this great show should make you happy. Now, stop WHINING and go SEE it. If you actually about DB that is.*

as a big fan of the dragonball franchise i was extremely disappointed when i saw this movie. i was extremely surpised when i noticed that it was only 85 minutes. i wondered to myself how the hell are they going to fit hours worth of anime material into the movie in 85 minutes. well they didnt and that in the end is what killed it. i could deal with the acting performances in respect to the plot development of the movie. they missed crucial points from the anime, such as goku already having great skill and easily mastering his ki...which annoyed the hell out of me when he couldnt do the kamehameha right off the bat. its little things like that which made the movie bad along with HUGE gaps in the storyline. and also i read another review which said that goku needed to be asian cuz in the anime he was asian. no disrespect but in my opinion hes white. and in later movies id like to see an asian guy try to rock long blond hair like a white guy haha. overall dragonball evolution sucked

The book is ALWAYS better and in this case, the manga and even the cartoon was better. The thing is, you watch it cause you're a fan of it. That's it. Not a fan? Then don't btch and don't go. Fan? GO SEE IT. I'll go too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am also going. I am a mother of three, 38 years old and a long-time devoted fan of DB. That's how amazing the show is!!!! How could anyone refuse to watch it?
